Kiteboarding Bonaire is committed to provide top-quality, very safe, and personalized kiteboarding instruction using specially designed kites and boards for fast learning.



Located on the on south-west side of Bonaire , we benefit from the steady tradewinds and calm and crystal clear waters to teach you the ins and outs of kiteboarding. As a student, you will be accompanied by your instructor by boat. This way your instructor is always close to you, allowing him to see every move you make, and give tips according to your needs. All you have to do is focus on your kiteboarding! Fast learning guaranteed.



Our main instructor and founder of kiteboarding Bonaire (Roan Jaspars) has over 9 years of kiteboarding experience and over 7 years of kiteboard-teaching experience.


Certified by the IKO, our team of instructors will ensure a fun and safe lesson, in which becoming an independent kiteboarder is the main goal.


Thanks to the steady trade winds, lessons can be given almost every day of the year. Lessons are mostly from 10h00 until 13h00 or from 14h00 until 17h00. Of course we can adapt these times to your convenience.


We teach kiteboarding to anybody who wants to learn this great sport and is able to swim and is at least 10 years old. Thanks to the warm water and the steady winds, learning to kiteboard has never been easier and more accessible!





What do we offer:


Basically there are 4 modules to choose from:


1. Kite-flying introduction

2. Intro to kiteboarding (iko certification)

3. Beginner kiteboarder course (iko certification)

1. Kite-flying introduction (1,5 hours)


Want to feel what its like to fly a powerkite? Learn how to safely launch and land a powerkite. Assisting someone to launch and land. Explore the different zones in the wind window (neutral zone/powerzone) Learn all about safety.

This course is on the beach and small trainer kites will be used.


What do you need: Sunglasses, sunscreen, shoes.




2. Intro to kiteboarding (3hours)


This course starts of as the kite-flying introduction course but focuses on flying the kite in the water. In the water we have several fun and helpful exercises like: body dragging, upwind bodydragging/ water relaunching/self rescue procedure, to get you comfortable flying a bigger kite and enjoy the power in a safe way. This lessons is taught from our boats and you will be wearing all necessary safety equipment like flotation vest and helmet.


At the end of this course we will evaluate your level and you will be certified with the IKO kiteboarder card.


What do you need: swimshorts/booties/rashguard or t-shirt/ sunscreen.




3.Beginner kiteboarder course ( 3x3 hours )


The first 3 hours of this course are like the Intro to kiteboarding course.The second and third day we will focus on using your kiteflying skills to get you up on the board and ride! Goals: Getting the board on your feet while flying a kite/ positioning the board/ making the powerstroke / getting up/ get speed/ control your speed/ stay upwind.


At the end of this course we will evaluate your level and you will be certified with the IKO kiteboarder card.


What do you need: swimshorts/booties/rashguard or t-shirt/ sunscreen.




4 Independent kiteboarder course ( 5x3 hours )



This course is designed for those who are committed to become independent kiteboarders. The first 3 days are like the beginner kiteboarder course. The following days we will focus on staying upwind/ making transitions(changing direction)




At the end of this course we will evaluate your level and you will be certified with the IKO kiteboarder card.


What do you need: swimshorts/booties/rashguard or t-shirt/ sunscreen.

All prices include equipment, instruction and 5% sales tax.


Cancellation policy:


A reservation is only final once we have received a downpayment. Please ask for our bank info by email. In case of cancellation the following cancellation fees apply:


-Up to 7 days prior to reservation: No fee

-6 days up to 24hours prior to reservation: $100

-Within 24 hours prior to lesson: $150
